About Innate
Innate is a software company. We build audit software that does the mechanical work of an audit, such as reading documents, reconciling figures and drafting workpapers, so that the audit team can spend its time on judgement.
How an audit through Innate works
Innate offers statutory audits for UK companies. Each audit is carried out and signed by an ICAEW-registered partner firm, which your company appoints as its auditor under the firm's own engagement letter.
- You tell us about your company. We ask for what the partner firm needs to consider the work and quote for it.
- We introduce you to the partner firm. It decides whether to accept the appointment, on its own terms. You learn the firm's name, and the terms of the audit, from its engagement letter before you appoint it.
- Your company appoints the partner firm as its auditor. From then on, the audit is the partner firm's: its team plans the audit, obtains and evaluates the evidence, reaches the conclusions and signs the auditor's report.
- The work runs on the Innate platform. Your finance team shares records through the client portal. The platform reads the documents, reconciles the figures and drafts workpapers for the audit team's review.
Innate is not an audit firm and is not registered as an auditor. We cannot be appointed as a company's auditor, and we do not audit or sign anything.
Who is behind Innate

Working with audit firms
Innate also works with audit firms. We bring the audit firms that partner with us clients and the platform: we introduce companies that need an audit, and give the firm's team software that does the mechanical work.
